Closing Songs

A closing song lets the children know that storytime is over and reiterates the consistency they get from an opening song. The one I use most often is Tickle the Clouds.

You could also do something like The More We Get Together or the ABC’s to start and end each storytime, I just prefer the ones specifically about storytime.

Tickle the Clouds

Tickle the clouds
Tickle your toes
Turn around
Tickle your nose
Reach down low
Reach up high
The stories are over,
Wave bye-bye

Touch Your Nose
source

Touch your nose,
Touch your chin.
That’s the way
This game begins.
Touch your eyes,
Touch your knees.
Now pretend
You’re going to sneeze.
Touch your ears,
Touch your hair.
Touch your ruby lips right there.
Blow a kiss
Touch your elbows
Where they bend.
Jump right up and say
THE END!!

Wave Goodbye

I think it’s time, we have to go
Wave your elbows, wave your toes
Wave your tongue, wave your nose
Wave your knees, wave your lips
Blow me a kiss with your fingertips
Wave your chin, wave your eye
Now it’s time to wave goodbye
