Flannel Friday: Down in the Jungle

Flannel Friday: Down in the Jungle

For my bath & bubbles storytime this week I had used a jungle themed rhyme from Let’s Play Kids Music!
The kids really loved yelling out the name of the animal and at the end of storytime I let them play with them.

Down in the Jungle | Miss Megs Storytime

Down in the jungle where nobody goes,
There’s a big fat elephant washing his toes,
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way he washes his toes!

Down in the jungle where there’s nobody there,
There’s a great big lion washing her hair,
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way she washes his hair!

Down in the jungle, if you look in the trees,
There’s a cheeky monkey washing his knees,
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way he washes his knees!

Down in the jungle if you care to check,
There’s a very tall giraffe washing his neck,
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way he washes his neck!

Down at the river, if you look underneath,
There’s a great big crocodile brushing his teeth,
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way he brushes his teeth!

Down in the jungle, if you care to take a peek,
There’s a colorful bird cleaning it’s beak
With a rub-a-dub here, and a rub-a-dub there,
That’s the way she cleans her beak!

  1. Hi Katie,

So delighted that you were able to use Down at the Jungle with your storytime group! Your added verse with the colourful bird washing his beak is so so good!! Would you mind if I put it in the comments section of my post with a back link to your post so my readers can see?

    Love your felt animals too!

  2. Hi! Thanks for responding. I am actually Meg :)
And no problem about linking! Have a great day!

  3. Hi Meg,

I was just planning my “Bathtime Storytime” and I came across this same sweet song! I’ve singing it all morning! I also found this video — the verses are slightly different, but I just loved the chorus and actions! So I tweaked and added the chorus. Am planning to do this at my Saturday Storytime, but I am using flannelboard clipart. Will make jungle-like trees and a river from felt. Take care,

    Lois
